Arthur Kern Poer, 64, of West Lafayette, passed away at 6:02 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Central. Born October 24, 1947, he was the son of the late Dorsey and Louise (Kern) Poer of Rushville. Arthur was originally from Rushville and also lived in Shelbyville. He served as a Military Policeman in the Army and had farmed most of his working life.
Arthur was a member of Mt. Auburn Christian Church in Mt. Auburn, IN and volunteered with the Veteran's Administration for many years.
Surviving is his daughter, Elaine Kvernum (husband, Joseph) of Columbus, IN and his sister, Carolyn Lockman (husband, Wes) of Terre Haute. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Thanos and a brother, Joseph Poer.
Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the service at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Indiana Veterans Home Chapel with Chaplain David Hess officiating. Burial to follow at the Mt.
