Ruth M. Donald Cavanaugh, age 89, of Lafayette, passed away at 7:22 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2012 in the Emergency Room at St. Elizabeth East Hospital.
Born November 24, 1922 in Leetsdale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ruth Garletz Donald. She married Charles T. Cavanaugh on March 11, 1943 in Swickley, PA and he survives.
Ruth was an avid bowler and worked at Market Square Bowling Lanes for over 20 years where she was an instructor and officer in the Lafayette Women's Bowling Association (LWBA) and member of the Hall of Fame and a member of the WIBC (Women's International Bowling Conference). She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Surviving with her husband are three sons, Charles T. Cavanaugh, Jr. (wife, Lisa) of Lafayette, Donald L. Cavanaugh (wife, Sharon) of Gainesville, MO, and Dennis W. Cavanaugh (wife, Linda) of Grovetown, GA; nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceeded in death by a brother, James Robert Donald.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Father Andy Dekeyser officiating. Burial to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
