Robert L. Cain, age 71 of Lafayette, formerly of Indianapolis, died in his home at 9:27 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Born in Wabash, IN on January 15, 1941, he was the son of the late Denis W. and June V. Jordan Cain. He was an Air Force veteran.
Robert married Carolyn Warren Cooper on December 21, 1971 in Lafayette and she survives. He was a truck driver for Sagamore Transportation for 10 years and route and fleet manager for Crown Laundry for 18 years. He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was a member of the Moose and Eagles Lodge. His hobbies included building racecars, fishing, playing pool, and reading. Robert said, "Since retirement, the world has been beautiful and we have been so blessed."
Surviving with his wife are four sons, Charles Cooper (wife, Kay) of Lafayette, James Cooper (wife, Penny) of Tennessee, Matthew Cooper (wife, Brenda) of Ohio, and Jeff Romeril (wife Michelle) of Indianapolis; three daughters, Holly Jones of Atlanta, GA, Deborah Rivera (husband, Luis) of Oklahoma, and Angela Cooper (husband, Mike) of Tennessee; a brother, Michael Cain (wife, Kathy) of California, an adopted son, John Boyce (wife, Julie), and daughter-in-law, Colleen "Coke" Romeril. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons William Cain and Michael Cain Romeril, his brother, Douglas and a great grandson.
